'Beauty and the Beast' live action film gets director
Beauty and the Beast is coming back to big screen—but this time, it'll be live-action!
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn's Bill Condon has been hired by Disney to direct the fairy tale film, Variety reports. Evan Spiliotopoulos will write the script, and Mandeville Films will produce the movie.
So far, there is no casting news to report for Beauty and the Beast.
The animated feature, released in 1991, earned a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards and was adapted into a Broadway musical in 1994. It has grossed more than $375 million worldwide.
i love this.
A briliant idea just like Maleficent/Cinderella/etc.
Collect coins and introduce this incredible material to the next generation with tact!
It'll be interesting to see how they pull off the beast in live action.
He could either be too cartoony and cheesy looking or too dark and like, demonic looking
Too many of the important characters in this story rely on animation and effects to visually come alive properly, I doubt they will pull off Beast/Lumiere etc in live action.
this messy trend of turning their fairy tales movies into live action films really needs to stop first Maleficent, then Cinderella, and now THIS. if Maleficent's CGI was a bit much, the CGI for this is going to be laughable
