MONCTON – There are multiple reports on social media that two RCMP officers have been shot in Moncton, N.B. after a man allegedly carrying high-powered rifles opened fire.
The suspect is also allegedly carrying a crossbow and knife.
Codiac RCMP have yet to confirm details. But, several RCMP units are present on Hildegard Drive, where the shooting is said to have taken place.
It’s believed that the suspect is hiding in the woods.
My friend lives in the general area and she has said that it has been going on for well over two hours, but the media is only just now picking up on it. They are advising everyone to stay off of the roads and lock all doors. This apparently is the first post on social media about the incident (which you can clearly see was posted two hours ago, as of posting this.)
It's so scary especially since I know someone who is lives in the area he is in right now.
Also, it is so weird seeing something like this since I am so used to bad things happening here in the United States. No one really ever talks about foreign issues like this.
They're saying on the news that 5 RCMP officers have been shot, 3 are dead. No word on how many civilians yet. He seems to have two hunting rifles and a cross bow.
New Brunswick (this is a province, for those who don't know, it borders Maine) had a total of 6 homicides in all of 2012. Guns not even necessarily involved in those homicides.
I'd be so afraid if I lived in that area. I hope he doesn't go after civilians .

It's the same elsewhere. People say Sydney, Australia not Sydney, NSW. It's like the whole world is expected to know every state, yet Americans can't be bothered to learn about other countries. Typical and arrogant.
I hope there are no more victims and they catch this guy.
I hope the RCMPs didn't die.
