Literally no one on ATRL considers Adele a mainstream pop girl. Get over it. We know she's successful.
Out of her peers (those marketed as pop stars), Rihanna's music is universally appealing and her image is very marketable. Even when she's doing something polarizing, people find it endearing. She's versatile and she changes just the right amount between eras.

Except she isn't. She's a B-list star in the US. Her albums barely scan platinum after massive hit singles. She's a nobody in Asia except for Middle Eastern countries. She's never toured in South America and her eras are either a hit or a miss in Oceania. She's huge in Europe because she makes dance music, simple as that.
