SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A suspect was taken into custody Thursday after a student reported seeing someone with a rifle near John Muir K-12 School in Clairemont Thursday.
According to officials, the student reportedly saw a man at a home near the school in the 4400 block of Mount Herbert Avenue who pointed what appeared to be a rifle at three children.
Campus administrators secured students in their classrooms while officers surrounded a home in the 4600 block of Mount Laudo Drive, just south of the school.
Just before 3:30 p.m., police took 29-year-old Ryan Hammond into custody at the home. Officers also confiscated a box of paintballs at the home. It was not clear if the weapon the children allegedly saw was a paintball gun.
