Why was Tik Tok a HUGE hit? This song was released in the Summer of 2009, but didn't really start to blow up til late 2009/early 2010. It was a huge hit and a sleeper hit. But what made the song blow up? Especially coming from a new DEBUT artist? The lyrics look like it was written in 5 minutes. In my opinion, I believe the song sold itself. It was super catchy, quick, and addicting! What's your opinion? Was it the music video? Radio? Promo? What made the song blow up? Especially months later after it's release in August 2009. Discuss!

There was nothing like Kesha & her sound at the time. It was fresh, fun & addicting... Her persona, production & image tied perfectly.
It may sound "generic" today, but that is only because it spawned hundreds of imitations & artists hopped on that production style & her "spoken song" way of lyricism.
It's so catchy! It was something that the GP would eat back then.. People were requestion the song like a fat kid on a pack of smarties and it was actually so relatable to them in some ways because the lyrics in the verses were super fun and the chorus was catchy and more upbeat than the other songs that were smashing back then...

I don't know. It was the first song I ever bought that my parents wouldn't approve of and it was a good gateway to pop and my teenage years for me (even though I was already like 14
