But I don't believe Madonna either. She and Kabbalah Centre have interests in Malawi that are financial and not philanthropic.

There's no financial interest in Malawi and there's no "probably" about it, they
are corrupt.
The issue began with Madonna firing the presidents sister. Madonna fired her because she had taken millions (yes millions) from Madonna's charity and spent it on herself, not only is that highly illegal it's deplorable to take money from a charity - the President then released a statement because she was butthurt about her sister being fired.
As Madonna was leaving Malawi she arrived at the airport to find her VIP status had been taken away by the office of the president. This might not seem like such a big deal to us and the issue of being a VIP might seem pretentious but the reason celebrities are awarded VIP status at airports is because of security reasons. Large amounts of people flocking to one person is 1.a security risk for the airport and 2. A security risk for the celebrity.
So there was Madonna, at the airport with her under age children without proper security (bodyguards) because she was under the impression she'd be able to go straight through like normal. Only to be told her VIP status had been taken away.
The president is a horrible, corrupt sorry excuse for a leader.
