What do you think about people who illegally download music?
Pros:
1. It can allow people who are poor to still enjoy and listen to music they love.
2. It challenges the music industry to make better products to make people want to buy instead of download.
3. It's similar to people borrowing and burning a CD from a friend.
Cons:
1. No matter how you sugar coat it, it's still stealing.
2. Could hurt smaller/independent artists more so than big artists.
3. Our faves aren't as rich as they could be.

None of these are justifiable reasons for millions lost in sales each year.
I think it's good for those who are undecided on buying it and if they like it they will buy it.
Some people do do that. Downloads aren't the only thing in decreased album sales I mean in the age where you can leagally pick apart songs and buy a certain few it does hurt.

The way the industry is now, buying is your way of endorsing the artist. I don't frown upon people who download an album here and there, but if your most listened on your iTunes is all **** you illegally downloaded, that's not a good thing. If everybody had the same stance as you, that music is free, then your fave wouldn't be able to put out music.

If everybody had the same stance as you, that music is free, then your fave wouldn't be able to put out music.
They still make music from radio, endorsements, and touring. Especially if the artist doesn't even write their own songs.
Sometimes I illegally download old music or album fillers.
However I try to buy all my music, because all the money spent by a label to record, produce, mix, ship, and promote a single shouldn't be written as a loss every quarter because people with plenty of money to give up $1.29 decided they didn't feel like it. It's basically saying "**** you" and I don't think you can really consider yourself a fan if you can't respect their hustle. If you can't afford it, get a job. Wait for your birthday. There's ways to pay for music.

It can challenge them to try to make better music. Just because the crap you hear on the radio sucks doesn't mean there aren't artists who make good quality music. And I think you see that with the huge album sellers like Adele, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift that the GP generally rewards quality albums.
I don't like those who illegally download. Yeah, unreleased stuff is fine, but c'mon, support the artist. They only make a small fraction of the iTunes money, and most need it to further their career and keep making music.
As a software developer, it is OBVIOUSLY bad. I know I would be fuming if I made a killer app that took months to complete and having someone STEAL my hard work and long sleepless nights
Just because something is illegal doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong.
