Who wouldn't find those people annoying? The average sports fanatic isn't that annoying to me. Most sports dont interest me anyway so it's not like I come in contact with real sports fanatics.
No more annoying than pop music fans. Switch opposing t-shirts in the scenario you gave with an opposing sig or avi and you have the same orangutan-behaviour ****.
we are no different on here except sports are incorporated in so many different parts of american culture and they dont get judged. no gay pop stan is gonna start a fight at the mall because they see another stan wearing a shirt of a pop girl they dont like, that just doesnt happen
Only when I have to play with them. I used to hate playing soccer at school because the football crazy guys would take it so seriously. If I didn't score, I'm useless, when I do score, I'm hogging the ball. Other than that, I admire their passion. It's a lot less annoying than certain kind of stanning, that's for sure.
Sports fanatics are nuttier than pop fanatics no doubt about it. I studied sports culture a bit at uni and it all basically stems from the working class loving hard-working, depressing lives and sport providing the perfect arena for emotional (teams, national pride, celeb athlete fixation) and physical (playing, spectating) participation.
As a Britney stan and a Chelsea supporter i gotta tell you that we're messier than them. If our faves were sport teams many of us would be dead by now.

I don't like sports so I'm a bit biased lol. They are practically the same thing I'll admit, except you're way more likely to encounter a nutty sports stan.
