why do people think artist are desperate when they follow charts? its their career. theyre in the studio for months working on their album,spend years writing music, etc... so of course its natural for them to want to see how their album is doing chart wise.

i dont believe any artist who claims they dont care about the money - obviously they have to make a living somehow, and if music is the career path they've chosen of course they should naturally want to keep tabs on how they're doing, especially if they're a new artist. if theyve been in the business for several years with several successful albums under their belt theyre pretty much set for life unless they're REALLY careless with their money so it doesnt matter as much if they flop
