I mean, she's an old woman by now (no shade, I'm a major stan afterall) and her last mammoth hit was 6 years ago - 4 Minutes in 2008 .
So why, even after so many major pop stars have emerged ( Rihanna, Katy, Gaga, Britney, Beyonce , among others) ATRL still discusses her like no other celebrity who emerged 30 years ago ?
Sometimes we even get the feeling she's a current pop star, judging by the way everyone talks about her and discuss her new projects .
So, why is that ?

Did you miss the MDNA Tour receipts? There's no replacing a legend with her discography and acclaim.

Edit: Wait you're a fan. How can you be asking this? Having a hot single and a pretty face does not a queen make. There's not an aspect of the music industry untouched by Madonna's impact. MDNA mightn't have spawned a hit single, but it did go on to sell about 2m copies and topped basically every country's iTunes (I think she holds the record from that release?)

She's had a three decade career and she set the standard for the current girls, alongside Janet. It's actually pretty simple.

At this point she's become something of a legacy touring act with her massive gross ticket sales and that in turn has helped cement her legend status and give her just a ton of attention in general. Thirty million people bought the GH that came after her fourth studio record - when you're that established, you don't lose it easily.

Yeah I know all that but what intrigues me the most is that ATRL is a forum dominated by youngsters .
And the amount of attention Madonna gets is pretty high for someone her age among youngsters, you know.
That's what made me create this thread. She has a great numbers of stans around and whenever there's a new poll asking something about 'pop girls' her name is up there with the ones from the current generation.
That kind of amazes me , really !

Madonna, mostly gets attention on ATRL is because most of her stans bring her up in almost every thread of any pop girl. For example, if someone makes a thread about their fave's great dancing abilities, concerts or videos etc. A madonna fan will surely bring her up and say how she did it better etc. That's where she gets the most attention from.

Because if you look at threads that are just made solely for Madonna news, it rarely gets any replies. It barely reaches 2 pages most of the time. Its not shade, just my observation.

Also, Mariah & Janet also get a lot of attention on here and in fact they get equally or more the amount of attention that Madonna gets. And they around her age or came out around her time,

because she's still active. once she retires she will officially make Rihanna the new queen! bookmark me!

Mariah burst into the scene 7 years later than Madonna and is 12 years younger than her.
Janet is on par but I don't see that many Janet fans around. Like you said, just my observation

The first time I ever paid Madonna any interest was when "Hung Up" came out in 2005 so what I was then... 13? Sheesh, just a wee tot. Anyway it was a great song and I bought a physical single which i would put into my wee CD Walkman and rave to, and then I bought the Confessions album and loved it. Anyway for some reason I never really actually started STANNING for her until shockingly last year when I was recovering from wisdom teeth surgery and I bought the Sticky & Sweet Tour DVD to watch and I was just so amazed at how well her music translates to stage, how many classics I didn't know very well or at all ("Borderline", "Human Nature" and shockingly "Ray of Light"). She has so much energy, so much spirit and is literally my fitspiration that I think of when I'm in a lazy mood. If she can maintain that body at more than twice my age, than surely I can kick my sorry 21-year old ass into shape.

Anyway the TL;DR version of this is she IS the rightful queen and has every receipt to serve it. Plus my favourite ever musical is Evita and she kicks ass and serves heavenly vocals and world-record breaking beauty (well, costumes) in the movie adaption.

All these female artists today are just doing more refined versions of whst Madonna did. From Rihanna, to katy and Gaga, Britney, Christina etc. nothing they have done, Madonna hasnt

It's not so much what she's doing now. (even though what she does now matches or exceeds the pop girls)

It's about what she has done. The "Queen" in this context is the person that reigns surpreme and that's exactly what Madonna has done.

World wide, no one in existence before Madonna's birth or after Madonna's birth has managed to match her career or come close to her success. In the 56 year chart history Madonna has managed to rack up the most entries and the most top ten hits. World wide, she dominates the charts out or male or female. Sales wise she's by far the most sucessful female.

Honestly, calling anyone else "the queen of pop" is a nickname and should be warnable. Pity Ace, doesn't agree

Rihanna is child's play next to Madonna.
She will never have the same audacity to go as far as Madonna has.
Don't even get me started on social, political, cultural impact.

I know right? When people say things like that, it's like... you do realize just how little Madonna's impact is from her music? I have no beef with Rih but she's basically a singer, maybe a "fashion icon" but that's sorta it - right?

Why do, Madonna stans in particular, need reconfirmation of her impact? She is the Queen of pop, but everyone already knows this
