I'm surprised Jack Johnson is that high up...good to see him have so much success with a great album. But Coldplay will take over the #2 spot soon, and I'm sure Miley Cyrus/Jonas Brothers will put up big numbers too.
Also, does it worry anyone else that only 4 albums have sold over a million copies this year?

Sad numbers. Let's pray we can have a Top 10 with over a million by the end of the year.

These numbers aren't accurate. Danity Kane has sold over 500k, Alicia has sold just shy of a million, Janet has sold over 400k, Sheryl Crow has sold close to 350k, Natasha has sold over 300k, R.E.M. has sold over 300k etc.

Could these developments have occurred since July 8th?

^ Doubtful. Danity Kane's been only averaging 5k per week at best, and I know they were over 500k weeks ago.

It's a shame to see so many great records sell so poorly. Back in the 90's Jordin Sparks would be selling at least 1 million this year so far..
it's disappointing

I think they really need to change the certifications :-/ I don't think anything will ever go diamond again.

I did my research, and Janet was over 400k more than a month ago, Sheryl was over 330k a month ago. Maybe the Alicia sales are correct but it seems like a few of these albums haven't been accurately accounted for.

Mariah had chance to own this year, and she blew it.

Why? Because her album was a letdown or because she released the wrong singles? I'm going to go with the latter. 'Bye Bye' was atrocious. I don't know who in their right mind predicted that song would go to #1.
TMB was a good first single at least, but she should have postponed IBLULT and released Side Effects or I'm That Chick. I don't really want Migrate or I Stay In Love to be singles but those would be smart choices.
