It's not like he's gouging anyone. Personally, if I were a musician I would avoid iTunes and just sell my albums for like $7.99. He worked hard on his album so I can understand why he wouldn't want people cherrypicking certain songs when the album is meant to be listened to as a whole piece. You wouldn't walk into a bookstore and pay for only a few chapters would you? I'm seriously sick of this download era. It works for the musicians out there that make a few hit singles and stuff the rest of their albums with filler, but what about the artists out there that work hard on concept albums or making their albums good from start to finish? I seriously think ALL artists need to yank their music off of iTunes so that consumers will stop invsting all their hard-earned money into $400 iPods and back into the music instead. It's the only way to start getting the supply-demand thing back. Or at least artists should make all of their songs on iTunes to "Album Only".

If there was no iTunes people would buy full albums, listen to the entire thing once and only play the 3-4 songs they enjoy after that. It doesn't matter. People are only going to listen to what they want to listen to and they'll skip the rest. I know there are plenty of pretentious artists who take their career far too seriously and view every album they release as a "concept album" and an "epic adventure" from start to finish, but generally when they make the claim that their album was meant to be listened to completely (it tells a story, etc) they are over-estimating the importance of the **** filler they throw in between a few good tracks. I hate when people try and say "selective downloading" is killing music. Hell no, it's making the music people actually want to hear far more accessible and who gives a **** if that 6 minute guitar epic (woah, like deep man!

) you put on there to fill space gets over-looked. A song like that wouldn't get any recognition from anyone besides your true fans anyway, the rest of us will just ignore it and go play your "hit single" again.
At this point Kid Rock should just be happy anyone is bothering to listen to him at all. And it's not like he can even claim he's making "music with substance" or "epic albums" that deserve to be listened to from start to finish. I mean, he's samples "Werewolves of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama" in "All Summer Long" so it's not like he's a serious musician who is above using samples to propel his career. He's totally trying to appeal to the white trash crowd and get a hit by including those samples. So, since you're already begging us to give you a hit, just put your friggin music on iTunes and have a genuine hit, Kid.
