Is katy Perry heading for a similar career to Madonna?

While Madonna's career is unprecedented and no one in existence (before or after her birth) has been able to match or surpass it and it's extremely unlikley (considering no one ever has) that no one ever will, it's not unreasonable to suggest that a pop girl will follow the same path and achieve a degree of longevity.

I think, this person will be Katy Perry.

It's not just me that has noticed Katy Perry's potential. It feels like the general public are on board for this and I couldn't be happier.

Whenever a "new" pop girl achieves some success the media does their usual thing and compares them to Madonna, in relaity it's not the girl that is the "it" girl of the time that's next in line, it's the girl what works hard and is consistent.

While no one will take Madonna's place, Katy Perry seems to be the next big superstar.

Interesting. I'd actually say Rihanna is most likely to have a career like Madonna. They have very similar personalities, experts at reinventing themselves, and have a very laid back but hard working demeanor.

They both had similar tragic love lives with Sean Penn and Chris Brown. But that's just my thoughts on it!

katy isn't really "evolving" though the only big change was OOTB > Teenage dream, and it's been the same stuff consistently since then

I don't know why people even compare these two. They're nothing alike.

Madonna's debut is better than anything Katy has released. By the time Madonna was at where Katy is now, she was releasing songs like Live to Tell and Papa Don't Preach not trite children's anthems like Roar.

Madonna and Katy are nothing alike and Katy will never have Madonna's artistic merit. So no, I do not think they will have similar careers.

By the way, you're totally overreacting to those quotes. She said she appreciates the way Madonna re-invents herself. She probably took that lesson, but it doesn't mean she's building her career the same way Madonna built hers.
