Unweighted sales of "Breakout" through the close of business yesterday stood at 110,000.
Hollywood GM Abbey Konowitch anticipates the Cyrus album will have growth throughout the weekend "with our fingers tightly crossed," as Cyrus has a packed promotional schedule lined up.
The singer/actress hosted MTV's "TRL" today and will do the same again tomorrow. NBC's "Today" will sit down with the star tomorrow as well, before she takes the "Today" stage on Friday. On Saturday, Disney Channel will premiere her 3-D concert film "Best of Both Worlds" after a daylong "Hannah Montana" marathon.
Cyrus' last proper album, the half studio set, half soundtrack "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus,” started at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 last summer with 326,000. It's safe to suggest that "Breakout" will bow with as large a number -- if not much greater. It all depends on how the weekend shakes out for the multi-media superstar.

MILEY VS. SUGARLAND TOO CLOSE TO CALL FOR #1
Disney Ingenue and Mercury Nashville Duo Both Look for 380-400k in First-Week Sales
July 23, 2008
It’s a battle of the pop and country divas for #1 on next week’s HITS’ Album Sales chart.
Disney’s Miley Cyrus, stepping out from her Hannah Montana persona for her new Hollywood Records solo album, Breakout, and Mercury Nashville country duo Sugarland, with the deluxe fan edition of their new album, Love on the Inside, are each on track to sell between 380-400k albums, based on one-day sales reports from those retailers still taking our phone calls.
Cyrus is riding the success of her fast-rising single, “7 Things,” while Sugarland has momentum from its country smash, “All I Want To Do,” which they performed on the 2008 ACM Awards, with lead singer Jennifer Nettles a crossover star in the making. Digital sales for Sugarland are especially robust, as country fans prove just as computer-savvy as other consumers.
The last Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley, did 326k in first-week sales when it was released last July, while Sugarland's 2006 album, Enjoy the Ride, opened with 211k in Nov. 2006.
The only other Top 50 newcomer would appear to be Nine Inch Nails, with the physical release of The Slip on Trent Reznor’s The Null Corporation label, after previously making the album available via free download on May 5. Initial estimates have the album selling 35k, not bad for something that was available for nothing just two months ago.
Seattle rockers Candlebox’s first studio album in a decade, Into the Sun, on indie Silent Majority Recordings, should do between 16-18lk, which should land it in the Top 30.

Wow! Good for her!
I was at Wal-Mart today and it's freaking Hannah Montana everywhere, I mean every corner I turn. Hannah Montana clothing, books, eyewear, fragrance, lotion, shoes, CDs, DVDs, posters, bedding, pillows, school supplies, alarm clocks, omg the lost goes on.
They seriously had over 250 copies of Breakout everywhere around the store.

Hollywood actually put promotion on someone! WOW! But, really, did they have to waste all of it on Miley? Just her name is going to make them big bucks. I could see Breakout selling over 300k with no promo just because of her name, when they should be spending time with Marie, Hilary, Aly & AJ, Vanessa, PWT's, Ingrid, etc. ----- Oh, and don't forget that Starz is also premiering the concert Saturday night, too. I'm not sure if it's in 3-D or not, though. Anyways, I'm really glad for Miley. She has a long road ahead of her. hopefully Hollywood keeps this up and releases a second single. (These Four Walls, The Driveway, Full Circle, Fly On the Wall, Bottom of the Ocean -- All good choices.)
