Shannon Dorerty returns to 90210 +more new shows
It's true, Shannen Doherty will be joining her fellow "Beverly Hills 90201" cast mates Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling on the new CW spin-off "90210." The actress will revisit the role of Brenda Walsh, her character from the original 1990 2000 series, who returns to West Beverly High as a drama teacher who is directing a high school musical.
"I was one when the show came out," Shenae Grimes, one of the show's lead actors, said. "But my mom raised me on it. I am very shellshocked every time I meet one of the old cast members. It's been quite a trip." The journey Grimes' character makes as she moves from Kansas to Beverly Hills mirrors the actresses' real life move from Canada, where she starred in "Degrassi: The Next Generation," to relocation in Los Angeles. "I didn't get recognized in Canada very often," she said. "If I did, nobody would approach me, let alone take my picture when I wasn't looking or anything like. Everything that's been going on has been a little overwhelming, to say the least."
But Grimes isn't the only actor making a big change in her life. Tristan Wilds, who played Michael Lee on the gritty HBO drama "The Wire," which was taped in the inner-city of Baltimore said, "It's been an easier transition than I thought it would be. The characters Dixon and Michael are somewhat alike. They both grew up in bad environments and they both had to grow up by themselves very quickly."
The show has other familiar television faces as well. Lori Laughlin, best known for her role on "Full House," plays Debbie Wilson, the show's matriarch. "I do remember how impactful it was," she said of the original series, which will focus more on the adult storylines than the original series did. And Jessica Walter, who starred as an alcoholic once-wealthy character on "Arrested Development," joins the cast as the once-famous eldest member of the Wilson brood. "Lucille liked vodka," Walters told critics of the similarities between the roles, "And Tabitha likes Scotch."
Also upcoming on The CW:
-- Set in Palm Beach, Florida, "Privileged" follows young Yale grad Megan Smith (JoAnna Garcia) as she adjust to life as a live-in tutor for a pair of twin cosmetics heirs. The series is based on the book "How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls," which executive producer Rina Mimoun describes as "if the 'Gilmore Girls' were teaching the 'Gossip Girls.'"
-- A sort of real-life "The Devil Wears Prada," "Stylista" is a new reality competition that will air after "America's Next Top Model." Contestants will work for Anne Slowey, a demanding editor at Elle magazine, with the winner being offered a role as an editor at the famous fashion magazine.
-- "13: Fear Is Real" is from horror kingpin Sam Raimi, which CW president of entertainment Dawn Ostroff described as "'The Blair Witch Project' as a reality show." Participants will live in a creepy house on the Bayou, where producers will scare them silly and have them "killed" off one by one, until just one winner remains to claim the $66,666 prize.

i was against this idea at first of a 90210 spin off. i grew up watching this show. this show ruined my social life for awhile cause i always had to watch this show to see what happens and the next day in school my friends and i would get together at lunch to talk about the episodes. but now that i see so many of the original cast mates coming back im starting to get excited about this.

^ Idk because on Beverly Hills 90210 she got fired, on Charmed she left because of her fued with Alyssa Milano, she hosted Scare Tactics for only 1 season & they had to replace her, I hope nothing really happens that will make her leave

I like the bitch too. She's an amazing actress and director. There's no doubt about that. But she just an annoying bitch who likes to quit everything she does, and always thinking she's above other bitches. Anyway, I don't care about this show.
