Did you think Miley's VMA stunt would work?

After her 2013 Vma performance she got a ton of criticism but in the end she ended up winning. Wrecking ball and We Can't Stop were the biggest songs of 2013, the Wrecking ball video still has the Vevo record for most viewed in 24 hours, Bangerz tour is set to be her highest grossing tour with about $100 million, and Bangerz album while its not pulling big numbers nearly tripled her last album Can't Be Tamed. She also managed to shed her Disney image and be seen as a real pop artist which, no other present Disney star has been able to do.

I'm not a stan either, I thought her album and tour would flop and she would fade away

The VMAs definitely gave her a lot of attention, but the only reason why Wrecking Ball went big was because of its video. Before that only her fans had bought it. That video helped her stay relevant a lot more than the VMAs imo.

I thought it would give her a lot of press and attention yes but I didn't think it would be anywhere near as massive culturally as it was.

I knew it would work from the beginning

I stan & while I wasn't shocked at the performance itself I was scared for ha I thought no good could come from that because people were being really cruel

But in the end it worked, like you said Forbes has said her tour is set to gross $100 million, her album isn't pulling major pop girl numbers, but she surpassed her last effort and she got her first #1 which is great in my opinion

The video helped her but she was selling nearly 300k without the video

MMC was nowhere near as big as Hannah Montana was. Britney and Xtina didn't have their breakthroughs until several years after the show's cancellation, making it a lot easier for them to get out of the show's image.

Hannah Montana was the biggest show Disney ever had and Miley managed to free herself from being typecast from a huge role. When it comes to image shedding, Miley had it the hardest.
