When Netflix created its first logo — which is black and white and red all over — the company was going for a LOOK AT ME design.
It was the late ’90s, and Netflix delivered physical DVDs. Back then, it made complete sense to make a logo that stood out, ensuring that when people opened their mailboxes, they knew exactly what to fish for.
Now it looks as if Netflix is finally putting its old logo through a flattening and simplifying machine. The company has started to use a very clean and flat logo in some of its television and promotional material.
Netflix declined to say if the new design is an experiment or the beginning of a larger branding rollout. But it is getting people’s attention.
