I think they kept it under wraps to use as promo for Summer Jam, which Nicki was probably finalizing or in talks with appearing at for this year.

I assume that other artists appearing at Summer Jam will have similar 97 second interviews which will be released in the following days.

I didn't know she was inspired by Cyndi Lauper. I think Jay-Z is her favorite rapper, but she gives Wayne more credit for obvious reasons.
