A lot of people really care about being the OP in celebrity/music news threads.
I care about OPs and their views in discussion threads, cause they start a topic.
But I don't even look or care about who snatched a news thread. How about you?

I don't care who made the thread, no. And I rarely make threads so I never try to snatch a successful thread for myself or anything.

I'm talking about being the OP in say Katy Perry's Birthday single thread as opposed to a proper discussion thread.
I'm talking about when a big girl single/album drops & we get ~10 threads by different people at the same time making same thread desperate for being the OP.

Usually, if it's a discussion, I don't bother because the title should alone take care of what they have to say and usually when it's a question they're against the idea so…

I do, yeah. But not because I want to be one.

I like it being organised and useful. Especially Bases/Albums because I can refer to them if I want to check something.

Not really. It seems like a popularity contest to get a "hit thread" when really you'll be forgotten in a few hours.

I only check the OP when it's something that isn't clear when I see the title, if the title explains it all then I just read the responses and respond myself.
