Should movies come out on DVD quicker than they do?
I know there's a lot of time and effort that goes into producing DVDs in bulk but
do you think movies should be released to purchase quicker than they are?
On average it usually takes about 5-6 months (after the movie is released in theaters) for a release
The movie is usually in main theaters for a month or two which leaves like 3-4 months of nothing
It bothers me
They force you to go see the movie just for that reason. They typically only rush relase a DVD out when the movie flops so that they can quickly make their budget.

Yeah I understand that
but what's the point of waiting so long to release it after it goes out of theaters?
If people knew a film was going to come out on DVD in 3 months, people would be more likely to wait and just rent it than take the risk of seeing it in theatres.
Yes, unless it's really slaying still in theaters.
Like, Pitch Perfect did pretty nicely in theaters, had a nice run for a few weeks and then was released on DVD just two months after coming out. That should be the ideal way to do it.
I wish they would come out sooner, and some movies are (or at least they're coming out on VOD sooner), but if they came out too soon, people would just skip seeing it in theaters (too expensive) and know that they can just see it in a couple months on DVD. Knowing they'll have to wait 6 months for the DVD makes them want to go to theaters.
They release them at different times in different countries & probably don't want a copy of the Blu-Ray version being online when they send it to theatres cause they'll lose a lot of $$
Even though it's irritating having to wait for movies to come out on DVD, I like the fact that they stay in theaters for a long period of time because I just go back and see them multiple times. It's cool being able to see movies that you enjoy on the big screen because they won't be on there forever.
