Honestly the "her fans" argument is literally so dumb. It's not like there's a single person on ATRL who legitimately only cares about and listens to their fave solely, we're all just people who like certain musicians. Blaming them for an artist's popularity is pretty stupid. The real reason is that there's more monsters than anyone else (you wouldn't know it from
ARTPOP sales but still) and by "monsters" I mean supporters that are passionate about Gaga rather than just random fans. So because there's more, there's more potential for messiness and that's unfortunately what we have here.
Lemme know when I reveal a flaw.

I think the purpose of her calling her stuff art is to question why it ISN'T considered art? I mean once upon a time she was a nobody performing, and now that she's working with some of the most talented people in the music industry (well, most renowned anyway) and pairing up with legitimate performance artists and sculptors etc it's not art? To me the tear down of her "art" seems like a way for people to refuse that Gaga might actually be creating something intriguing that they don't understand, and not wanting to be one-overed by someone they don't like - they tear her down and say it's not art. Which is especially annoying when that's the point of the whole era. She doesn't have to be painting the Sistine Chapel to be an artist.
