Tech: iPhone users staying away from Galaxy S5

According to data from leading gadget trade-in service Gazelle, the volume of used Samsung phones being sold using the company’s site exploded on April 11th, the day Samsung’s Galaxy S5 went on sale at all four nationwide U.S. wireless carriers. The firm’s data shows that Samsung device trade-ins were up 69% over the Galaxy S4′s launch day and 209% over trade-in volumes on the day the Galaxy S III first went on sale in 2012.

In terms of attracting new business from the iPhone camp, however, things didn’t look as impressive.

Gazelle saw iPhone trade-in volumes drop 35% compared to where they were last year on the day the Galaxy S4 launched in the U.S. Interestingly, the Galaxy S4 didn’t even go on sale at all U.S. carriers on the same day last year, so the Galaxy S5 saw fewer trade-ins from a much larger group of potential customers.

It would seem that iPhone users aren't as tempted to switch to the S5, like they were with the S4.

I'd rather have a functional band-aid phone, than have something that is so simple a 3 year old could use it. This coming from a current iPhone user. I can't wait to switch.

Considering my four year old sister owns an Android, I don't understand the shade

Also, if something is truly functional, it should be able to be used by multiple ages? That's what functional is, isn't it?

So if a three year old can use an iPhone, then it is functional, also? Correct?

Meanwhile, if you're going Android from iOS, get the Galaxy Note, Nexus or HTC One.

That's actually a good point

The iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 will both have fingerprint scanners and a big screen.

That's actually the most logical reason. It's literally OS that factors the most now.
