That all comes despite something social science research has been able to tell us pretty consistently: being a gay or lesbian parent doesn't have much effect on how your kids turn out.

For years, study after study has found that whether a child is raised by heterosexual or homosexual parents, there isn't a significant difference in their well-being. The largest of these studies, published last year by Melbourne University in Australia, suggests that children raised in queer households might even be doing better than their poor peers saddled with straight parents. I wish people would realize there is so much more to a person than sexual orientation. And on the slip side some people need to stop letting their sexuality be the main focus of everything in their lives. Just be a descent person. Period. There are good and bad eggs in every bunch.

It amuses me how opponents of gay parents believe that gay parents will corrupt a child beyond repair, because straight families definitely don't do that! These opponents won't hold heterosexuals accountable for the criminals of the world who came from straight families, or the divorce rate in heterosexual sexual marriages, which can have a negative effect on children.
