Someone please explain to me about privilege. The different types of privilege I know of so far are: white, male, straight and CIS. Explain to me in detail about these things please, also give me more example of types of privileges if they exist, thank you. Hopefully we can get a good informational thread started here.
Nnnnn, I'm not that much of a moron, I know what the word privilege actually means. I'm meaning I want more information on the various types of privileges. Who they affect, what they are comprised of, what can be done to help etc.
Privilege is any attribute in society that intrinsically gives you a social or economic advantage over those without that attribute. Being able-bodied and mentally sound are two that you missed, for instance. Many people are looked down upon for illnesses or physical defects they can't help, and mental illness gets the added bonus of people not thinking it exists at all.

People making pre-thoughts of someone and holding them to it despite not knowing their life or struggles. I guess a stereotype, if you will, but I guess I should "check my privilege" before speaking because I'm only 1/3 minority with my gayness and there's black gay men and gay women that are more important than me because of it
Privilege, discrimination, and social groups all operate within interrelated hierarchies of power, dominance, and exclusion. Just because someone is privileged in one way doesn’t mean they may not be underprivileged in another and vice-versa (Unless you are a wealthy straight cis able-bodied anglo-saxen male).

Ah I see, thank you. So technically do humans have privilege over other animals since we are in a position of power?

Ah cool, thanks .
But what if they didn't come from a loving home though, or if they had no one to speak to, wouldn't that be an underprivilege?
