LOS ANGELES -- Former Chicago actress Keke Palmer has been cast as the lead in a series proposed for Nickelodeon.
Tentatively titled "True Fashion," the live-action show is described as "Big" meets "The Devil Wears Prada." The pilot centers on a teenager (Palmer) tapped to head the teen division of a major fashion label.
She has a passion for fashion but soon learns that corporate life has the same highs and lows as high school, complete with cliques and mean girls -- but also with such cool perks as designing for rock stars and casting cute models.
Palmer, 14, was born in Harvey and moved to Los Angeles in 2004. She won an NAACP Image Award for "Akeelah and the Bee" and returns to the big screen next month in "The Longshots."
