This song is perfection. It's so underrated already, not by critics, who praised it, not by the urban community, who loved it (#1 in the streets) but here on ATRL. I think the people who are a fan of Lady Gaga and stuff were here for pop and thought this was trash because it's not catchy and there is a lot of the N-word in it but I think a lot people don't get the whole idea of this song.
It's such a brilliant song, the way this song is basically an attack on male rappers, she disses all of them and uses the N-word in a way it contradicts that. The way the song is build up is amazing too. She starts simple but the song evolves in a darker way were the beat becomes heavier and she is spitting harder and harder as the song goes on in which it builds up to a climax where she delivers the ultimate punchline by raising her voice and saying 'Bitch I'm me' in which she literally blew me away to another country.
The song is also the
perfect teaser for the kind of album she is releasing. Due to it's simplicity it doesn't give away too much of the albums direction other than that she is completely back to rapping.
The fact that the song might be 'too hardcore' is a smart move too actually since you can critize this song all you want but no one is gonna say it was too pop so even if there were people in the urban community who didn't like the song they were still aware of the fact Nicki is completely back to rapping. I haven't even addressed the video, which is as good as the song. The fact that she wore her real hair, the video was really dark which reflects the song in a magnificant way and the whole 'looking ass n*gga' looking throughout the video with Nicki shooting at them in the end is phenomenal. She is coming, she is coming to kill all of y'all N*ggas.
Now my point is that Lookin' Ass is without a doubt the best and most brilliant song released by a female artist, not MC but artist in 2014. The song is a true masterpiece. There could not have been a better teaser for her upcoming album.
