Last week, it was rumored that Sony Pictures is looking to shoot Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 at the same time using a script by James Vanderbilt that spans the two films. While that hasn't been confirmed, Latino Review added its own rumor... that Peter Parker/Spider-Man may get recast for the films.

Who do they say top the producers' list for the role? Patrick Fugit and Michael Angarano.

So does that mean Sam Raimi, Tobey and Kirsten Dunst are all out? It's too early to tell, but just remember none of this has been confirmed.

UPDATE: Sony Pictures tells us that there is no truth to the rumor that the studio is looking to replace Tobey Maguire in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in future "Spider-Man" movies.

Patrick looks more like Tobey and Michael looks more like Peter Parker.

The thing is, it doesn't matter who looks like Tobey. He's one of the biggest parts of the brand and anyone else will seem like they're trying too hard. It would almost be like a "Scary Movie" sequel if they used someone else.

I think they should cool off this series for a few years and come back with a Batman Begins type flick if Tobey isn't coming back.

I hope that this is FALSE!

OR corny it up and say him and Kirstin have a son who gets his little spider gene.

I would prefer that idea than replace Tobey!

Yuck. As a comics fan, EW. Last time they tried that kind of thing, we got that awful 'Birds of Prey' TV series.

Why replace Tobey? It's too expensive to add all that muscle with CGI?

Tobey doesn't want to get stuck as "That Spiderman guy" for the rest of his career. I can't blame him because career-wise it's the kiss of death when you try to pursue other roles.

I kinda don't buy this, because he helped put out two good films during his Spiderman era. (Seabiscut and The Good German) Plus both of those films caught Oscar-attention.
He can pull it off for another few years...

It's always a big mistake when they do sequels at the same time. Look what happened to Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean :-/

The third one is my fav. I mean it was not as popular as the second one!!!!!
But it was one of the best movies last year!!!!! and definitively a hit!!!!!!!!!!!!
