I used to have a best friend, who was a girl, and she's was my fruit fly.

we went shopping, grabbed lunch, spent time together.

BUT! she never asked me to go shopping, get manicures, etc.. If we did go shopping, it was because we needed to look hot for a social event.
SO... being a gay best friend isn't bad. It's just a matter of having a connection with someone. although, there ARE some cringe-worthy gays that like to live up to every stereotype possible. :/
