Well, looking at the classic that was at number 1 on this day eight years ago and the current disaster on number one. The answer is obvious.

Who's #1 these days? I seriously don't pay attention to the Hot 100.

^ Rihanna "Take A Bow" which is an amazing song, actually my fav out right now but if you compare it to "MARIA MARIA" of course it's gonna look like ****.

I wouldn't call half of those songs classics. My favorite song in top 10 is Say My Name.

OMG I luved these days, everyone had thier own sounds, nothing really sounded the same. The top five was full of variety, the country song, the summer anthem, the latin anthem, R&B anthem. IT was just soo much variety, <33333

Yeah, it was a true experience for any music fan. Not to mention that the Top 40 hits were REAL hits. Each song getting a fair amount of exposure. Unlike today where the radio *****s up 2 or 3 generic songs and screw the rest.

There really are some classic songs here<3333.

Shame they flopped in the USA, even featuring on a Mariah track didn't do it

Like most of the songs.

I can't believe Faith Hill - Breathe, Sonique - It Feels So Good, Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone and Westlife - Swear It Again were all in the top 50. The chart was much better then, now it's really predictable. I was looking at stuff and I can't believe that songs from Cleopatra and S Club 7 were big in the States That's quite astonishing

OMG Mazen, youre making start to hate music these days, and I luv it, but now i'm second guessing, there were so many great songs!

Westlife were pretty good at the beginning but they started to bore me after their third album or so. I don't get why they are still releasing albums.

Yeahh their latest album didn't have great reviews and flopped alot of places other than the UK and Ireland the thing is the album still had covers and they even released a cover (Michael Buble - Home) as the lead single from the album, so they need to start being more credible at this point IMO!

& yeah KingOfBrits, S Club got to #10 with 'Never Had A Dream Come True'
Damn that song is good when you haven't listened to it for ages & Sugababes even had a top 90 song back a few years ago
