that doesn't make it a "box office smash hit". it grossed $30m

it wasn't a box office smash. But it had a $5 million budget. So it was still successful overall. Plus it didn't get released to every theater in the US..

I never said it wasn't successful or didn't make profit, it did.

but there's a difference between making back money and then some and being a 'box office smash hit'. that's like saying Spring Breakers is on the same level as real box office hits like Frozen, The Avengers or any film that has grossed $300m+.

$30 million is not bad at all considering the type of movie that it was and its $5 million budget and also the way it was released.
