To keep the story short,
I know someone that got out of school today so it could attend a funeral for its dead dog.
IT got all its family together, dressed up, made an event out of it, posted instagram pictures with captions like "This is a tough time but I must stay strong"...
I did the same thing for my cat. Of course animals aren't "human too" but they can become a HUGE part of the family. They are there to comfort you when you're sad and they're always there during the happy moments, even if it's just in the background. People fall madly in love with their pets and losing one can be really hurtful.
Well, considering dogs can live 13+ years, they become attached to a family and are an important piece of the family. It can be be hard for some people to lose a loved one like a pet.
If they have small children, it also gives them a chance to discuss death and to cover a very difficult topic. So more power to them.

welp my parents don't let me have a pet so I don't know how it feels
#heartless
I'm glad your parents won't let you, afterall if you think animals can't feel pain I can only imagine the terrible things you would do to it with the excuse being that it can't feel pain.
And to answer I think a funeral is too much for an animal but that's just my opinion.

I personally wouldn't do it, but if somebody else wants to, who am I to stop them? As previously mentioned, pets become family members. Y'all wouldn't just bury grandma in the backyard and go eat pizza afterwards like nothing happened, would ya
I've stayed home from school when pets have died. When my cat died we spent pretty much all day crying and we buried him in the backyard. We didn't dress up or anything, but everyone grieves differently, I guess.
