Girls' Generation member accused of assaulting a man

SEOUL: Korean authorities revealed Tuesday that K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation’s Hyo-yeon was recently questioned by the police after a male friend alleged that she had assaulted him, reported Korean media.
The man said they were at the residence of a mutual friend when Hyo-yeon pretended to have the intention of jumping from the second floor of the building. She knocked away the man’s hand when he tried to stop her, and accidentally hit him in the area around his eyes.
Police later dropped the case after the man said Hyo-yeon did not intentionally hit him and withdrew his complaint. Hyo-yeon’s management agency SM Entertainment said the entire incident was “a misunderstanding”, and explained that the singer had accidentally hit her friend while they were “playing around”.
Although this should probably be the end of the whole thing, the story has become a hot topic in the Korean media and Korean netizens are already speculating (as they tend to do) that there’s more to what happened than has been said. The main theories are that the pair are actually dating and got into a physical fight, or that Hyoyeon tried to commit suicide because the other Girls’ Generation members are bullying her (suicide is the main cause of death for people under 40 in South Korea).
