Sometimes we do not realize it but a mere slap we had in our childhood because of something wrong we did will prevent us from repeating the same mistake throughout our lifetime.

Don't agree with it AT ALL. Physical violence is never the answer, what kind of example is it to set for a child that hitting people gets them to do what you want?

Corporal punishment makes it sound intimidating though like spanking a kid is justified when they clearly did something bad. The minute bruises show up is when you go too far. However like i said in the other thread, it depends a lot on whether that measure is necessary in the first place. Some kids don't need it.

It builds a gap between a child and a parent. It doesn't correct the child, rather it disintegrates his moral sanity.

It's not right. Parents need to show children the respect they demand. The kid will never respect anyone if they're never shown what mutual respect is.

If you can't correct a child's behavior without resorting to physical violence, then what example are you setting? Stop the circle of harm.

I got spanked and don't remember it being traumatic or scary at all. It did stop the behavior. I'm not opposed to it but I probably wouldn't do it to my kids.

This topic is very sensitive to be honest as some children believe it or not are really uncontrollable.

Don't agree with it. There's better ways of discipline than to launch at a defenseless child, and they normally learn behaviors from their parents. It can lead to disconnections from their relationship too. Like, my mom used to hit me, but now we have absolutely no bond and I'm very confident in saying I came out a much better person than her who doesn't plan on hitting their kids.
