Some methods via intensive farming may be morally dubious but killing animals is not an innately cruel thing to do. It's instinctive

They're both topical issues. Also this one isn't strictly Islam, it's Jewish and Islam.

The process of shehitah is more complex but the animal itself needs to be treated with respect or the meat is not kosher.

In my opinion, kosher/halal slaughter is less cruel because the stuff that goes down in these western slaughterhouses is just disgusting.

I don't know too much about Kosher, but I know that Halal methods of slaughter are rooted in respect for the animal. It's a much more dignifying way to 'leave' rather than spending your life being fattened up until your legs buckle and then being thrown in a mincer.

The essence of halal is taking the life of the animal with the least amount of pain

The animal need to be well fed and respected before its killed

And its a rule that you take tr animal away from its herd to slaughter avoiding the slaughter scene fromthe other animals
