Reyes confirmed that she was told “you wouldn’t really know how to approach people” because she’s “been over there” — meaning Afghanistan.

“Once a customer’s in your face, you wouldn’t know how to do it. You wouldn’t know how to react,” Reyes recalled the hiring manager saying.

In addition to her military service, Reyes also has past retail experience, which should make her an easy hire. Instead, she was allegedly told that she “wouldn’t be able to do good here.” She was told that perhaps a job in “loss prevention” would be a better fit.

Tbh this happens a lot.
I was discharged from the Marine Corps early on due to personal reason, but coming back to the civilian world I found out how much harder it is to find a job when you have a military background. They will specifically ask you why and what, do a background check and not call you back. Maybe for me it was because I was discharged and they may not like that (as if Macys life for example can even come close to the stress of Marine corps life) but even so I know people struggling to find/hold jobs due to their full time duties in the military. It has a lot to do with the job thinking they may be mentally unstable due to post traumatic stress. It's a damn shame.
