Most people don't even realize how much Brandy shaped some of their faves' early discography. In the way that pop music nowadays is infused with EDM music, pop music from the 90s was heavily R&B based.. Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore.. all the 90s girls wanted to emulate the sound of Brandy, Destiny's Child, TLC, and Aaliyah because those were the biggest female names in music, let alone R&B.
