Lady Gaga is once again using desperate tactics to drum up video views (thus an increased chart position) for her poorly received “G.U.Y.” video. I am told that either Gaga’s PR team or Interscope Records allegedly bought several hundred copies of a popular IP-changing software solution in order to drum up fake video views, though the software may not be used specifically for Gaga. The company who sells the software would neither confirm nor deny the purchases.
Lady Gaga, who says she doesn’t care about chart positions, has encouraged her fans to make the video number one. Instead of trying to drum up illegal video views herself (which she did with “Applause“), she has left this up to her fans, co-workers and record company. Gaga’s best buddy Bill Werde, who was fired from Billboard for allowing Gaga’s cheating methods to turn into chart points, even got into the game yesterday by comparing Gaga to Jesus Christ and encouraging people to put the video on repeat.
Last November, Interscope and Billboard made an agreement to use what is referred to as a “Grigorian Algorithm” to make Lady Gaga’s non-hit song “Dope” a hit by counting unintended video views. “Dope” was used as a purchased commercial spot for thousands of YouTube videos. The performance video for “Dope” would play before thousands of videos, thus turning into streaming chart points even though the viewer never intended to view the clip. This was payola at it’s finest and Billboard, then under the direction of Bill Werde, even sponsored its fake top ten chart position, though hardly anybody has ever heard the song.
An insider from Interscope tells me that Lady Gaga is desperate to revive ARTPOP. “She is using every unethical method possible to revive this album and even though her team thinks it will only make things worse, they are afraid to refuse her demands. It has become rather pathetic lately.”
