What is it about Lady Gaga that has driven M's fans up the wall for years? Madonna fans seem to be obsessed with discrediting everything Lady Gaga has ever done as:

1) fake
2) owed to somebody else
3) derivative / "reductive"
4) out right stolen
5) created with crude intent

It's a legit question I have. I don't think even the Rihanna/Bey fan wars have extended to such an extent; what with the dozens of dedicated hate blogs (PawsDownLittleMonsters has thousands of followers), hate accounts, etc. all rooted in Madonna. Gaga even noted this oddity in her interview with Howard Stern: (starts at 8:11)

Firstly they were threatened. Now they are just obsessed. (Talking about some madonna stans, most of them are not even that active online, and the same goes with every Pop star, It's really funny how people think that some online fans are representative of a whole fanbase)

But it's fun to drag her and talk about her tbh.

Creating hate blogs and stuff seems like the perfect hobby for that kind of people.

It's when Gaga lied about receiving permission from M's camp to do her cover of Express Yourself. There weren't any problems till then.

It is fun to do because of how angry their fans get. Case in point: this thread.

The Rihanna/Bey "fight" didn't go as far as this did because despite everything Beyhive members don't see Rihanna as a threat to Beyonce whilst that's not the case with Madonna fans and Lady Gaga

I don't understand this either. I mean it's absolutely OK to dislike an artist. We all have our preferences, but to the extent that some of the Madonna fan go to, to hate on Gaga and the measures that they take are absolutely

Of course I don't mean to generalize, because not all Madonna fans do it. Some are actually really sweet.

But still, all these hate sites, hate blogs & twitter handles that constantly churn out fake articles about Gaga & just exclusively dedicated to everything Gaga 24/7 is verrrrry extreme and disturbing.

The hate for some, seems like it's deep rooted in something more personal. Something much more than just "Madonna". It's like they know Gaga personally and she did something horrible to them or something.

Because one cannot hate on someone so incessantly unless they know them personally and were personally affected by something he/she did. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Furthermore, the controversy over the 2011 version of Express Yourself flared up because all Gaga has been preaching till then was about accepting oneself and being a unique individual. Then, she attempts to do that with a stolen song?
