Although far from my favorite song on the album, the Walmart Soundcheck convinced me it was a good choice. But on Ellen, Lea was much more restrained, from the quiet opening to the soft held note at the end. It simply lacked spark, but hey, that's what can happen from one live performance to the next. Nervousness, mood, acoustic feedback, experimentation, the conclusion of an expert's analysis of the tastes of the show's demographic,..., who knows? And anyway, who would want it exactly the same every time? At least it got the job done: more album sales and a few more (hopefully older) fans.
