Final Fantasy VIII (ファイナルファンタジー) is a role-playing video game released for the PlayStation in 1999 and Windows-based personal computers in 2000. It was developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) as the Final Fantasy series' eighth title, removing magic point-based spell-casting and the first title to consistently use realistically proportioned characters. The game became available on PlayStation Network as a PSone Classics title in 2009.
The game follows the story of a group of mercenaries, who are part of an organization named "SeeD". Their main goal in the game is to stop a sorceress from the future (named Ultimecia) from compressing time.

Now a lot of attention gets paid to FFVII, but the legendary and iconic Final Fantasy VIII is often paid dust. Do you stan for it? To be honest I can clearly see the chain reaction from my first play of Final Fantasy VIII to my current living in Japan. FFVIII got me started loving the franchise, so I then moved on to FFX afterwords and FFX-2 where I discovered the singer Jade Valerie from the group, at the time, Sweetbox who sang the X-2 theme song "real Emotion". Afterwards, the Japanese version by Koda Kumi which led me to an interest in J-Pop. Then I pursued the Japanese language at university, and now I live in Japan as a result.
VIII was my very first real game, I've probably played it more than any other game. I'm alternating it with X and X-2 HD atm on Steam. Fantastic soundtrack.
I don't think the developers planned on the R=U theory. In hindsight, they probably kick themselves for not coming up with it. It's pretty brilliant.
Yeah, I love what it symbolizes and it makes sense with quite a few plot and detail points if they chose to expand on it. A devastating and truly twisted way to look at the story.
If anyone is interested in an AMAZING fan-fiction I'm currently 2/3's through, check out Final Fantasy 8: Future Bound which serves as a sequel to the game's events. I'm obsessed!
I only played a little and when they asked me a question before I entered the first cave or whatever and then I died because of my answer, I was like no ma'am this game doesn't seem forgiving
they should've waited for a few hours to get used to the game before they go cute on me
