In 2009, a Delhi high court finally set aside 19th century British laws criminalising homosexual sex in India. The Supreme Court recently reversed the decision.

The Supreme Court's reasoning is that the high court's ruling was not fit because it took an "casual approach" on decriminalisation of homosexuality. There was no discussion with Parliament and they blamed judiciary for its "over-reach".

Nobody's going to jail because they held a peaceful march or being gay, for that matter. Yes Indians (especially those living in rural areas or towns) have regressive views but the ruling party or most of the modern India believes that homosexuality should be legal in India. Hinduism actually has said nothing against Homosexuality so that helps. (I am an Indian btw and at least that's how I have seen the situation so far)

Damn that supreme court judge. Most of the India, especially political parties, Indian Media and public figures agreed that the move was wrong and that it should be challenged again.
I think the ban will be lifted anyway in future.
Regardless, there has been NO case of gays being jailed or any kind of oppression. If that happens, the Indian Media will drag the government to the filth. They have been absolutely supportive of lifting the ban off homosexuality and there are various articles in the Times of India here supporting the cause.
Yes general public often make fun of gays(This, I have seen) but in urban India, even this is decreasing and mostly people are supportive. It takes time to bring about a change, and it will definitely happen here.

I hope Arab nations will be the ones to follow suit after them
