It is punishable by law after supreme court inverted High Court's decision.
Damn that supreme court judge. Most of the India, especially political parties, Indian Media and public figures agreed that the move was wrong and that it should be challenged again.
I think the ban will be lifted anyway in future.
Regardless, there has been NO case of gays being jailed or any kind of oppression. If that happens, the Indian Media will drag the government to the filth. They have been absolutely supportive of lifting the ban off homosexuality and there are various articles in the Times of India here supporting the cause.
Yes general public often make fun of gays(This, I have seen) but in urban India, even this is decreasing and mostly people are supportive. It takes time to bring about a change, and it will definitely happen here.
