Then I see why it was seen as illegal/invalid. It should probably be "Join Russia", "Stay in Ukraine" and "Become Independent"... If the one with the most votes does not lead by a massive margin, the two most voted should follow to a second referendum...

I don't know, Crimeia was a region dominated by russians from the start, so it was expected the majority would vote to be reintegrated to Russia. Anyway, Crimeia shouldn't continue either under Ukraine or Russia, they should be declared independent. If they want to go with Russia, good luck with that.

I've read the votations were made in a very unorganized way and there was no secrecy to vote. Of course that's a violation, but I don't think the result would be any different.

at least in some places, it seems like the voting was very unorganized. I don't know if it happened everywhere. That was what I read on my country's newspaper.
