Yes, the cop was right about the dude thing. No police officier should be called "Dude."
BUT...
That's part of the teenager society today we live in. We call everyone dude's at our workplace. It's quite funny cause I was reading through some of the customer complaints on our store and this one customer commented on how all the teenagers working on shift were like "Dude this, Dude that." I read that and LMAO!!!
But you shouldn't take it that far like he did. He should've said nicely to call him Officier or something like that. And believe me, if you talk nicely, things work a lot better. (That is if they are listening....)
But calling people "dudes" is common. No one should be hurt or punished for saying that. He's just a kid skateboarding in his free time having no care in the world.
Oh yeah and the kid didn't know any better. He's around the age 16ish? He's not an adult yet. Who would've thought at that age calling someone "Dude" would be a crime
