She's talking about freedom in that SXSW interview and how the things that doesn't matter are critics, charts etc. Yet she's not releasing because of the negativity? I feel like she's just saying what's on her mind while she's not sure what direction she's going.

That's not what she even said. She basically said she has songs she made that she doesn't want to share as she enjoys them for just her and her friends and doesn't care about others opinions.

I got childish vibes from it tbh. Like, she's contemplated retiring (from the commercial business) and is holding back projects on purpose because people don't like ARTPOP and have chosen to drag her for the sales and lack of hits. Digging a hole.

the ironic thing is that she DOES care about the charts and she DOES care about the critics. Wasn't that the FIRST thing she said about ARTPOP?

ART= something that will be perceived as of a higher value
(it backfired though so now she's experimenting with low art)
POP = mainstream music, which means commercial success.

She loves theatre, she IS theatre. It's not hard for her to prepare and fake through every interview.
