Rolling Stone praises Gaga's performance
Quote:
As she delivered these words of wisdom, she put on a white apron and then introduced "Swine" as a song about rape and rage. As she sang and drummed, Gaga was joined by the fetching British performance artist Millie Brown, who was wearing a sparkly black skirt and electrical tape over her nipples: Brown proceeded to vomit bright green goo all over Gaga. They then climbed onto what appeared to be a large mechanical bull (à la Urban Cowboy) but was actually a mechanical pig with a ball gag in its mouth. A neon sign came to life advertising "Lady Gaga's Haus of Swine BBQ."
While Gaga lay on her back, writhing on the rotating pig, Brown straddled her and humped her. It would have been a burlesque version of overheated sexuality — except that Brown was sticking her fingers down her throat, regurgitating black goo that splattered all over Gaga. The result was memorable and genuinely unsettling: even with the apron, unwanted body fluids were all over Gaga, in her skin and her dreadlocks. For the rest of the show, Gaga would have this black sheen, marking her as a metaphorical survivor of rape and an actual survivor of performance art.

If eating disorders weren't such an issue these days I wouldn't have any problems with the performance, too many people suffer from bulimia and seeing an attractive skinny girl sticking her fingers down her throat most likely pushed some people to do the same, even though the performance probably didn't have anything to do with eating disorders, it's still going to affect people in a bad way, Gaga is definitely aware of this which I think is really insensitive of her.
That aside, I do agree with the article, it was a brilliant performance, It was so raw and disgusting just like the theme of the song, she really deserves those headlines. If you're gonna make people talk, make it worth it, not cheap antics like Miley Cyrus.

Honestly, when Madonna performed sacrilege on the cross and had sex with black Jesus, people were just as disgusted. Boundary-pushing performances are usually reviled at the time and not fully appreciated until later on.

Gaga herself has suffered from bulimia in the past, that's why she included it in the performance, she was letting out all her demons

And THIS is what it's all about. The performance was raw, disgusting, thought provoking, repulsive...and Gaga was fully aware of what she was doing. But she made a point and I'm glad that the experts are acknowledging her performance!
Get that acclaim GAGA!
So proud of her for pushing boundaries.....and this is why her fans refer to her as the QUEEN of Pop.
