So what are your views on gun ownership in the US?

The process of acquiring a gun should be much more heavily monitored. It sounds extreme, but a psychological assessment should be mandatory.

I believe the government has not business trying to take away my guns if the police can have a gun why I can't?

I think we're too deep in the hole as far as making gun laws stricter goes. There's so many unregistered guns on the streets of inner-cities that almost anybody can get their hands on, it's a mess. Hence cities like Newark and Baltimore, in states where gun laws are some of the strictest around, tend to have a lot of shootings regardless. So in a sense stricter gun laws in America drives people to buy unregistered guns off the streets over acquiring a gun permit with proper training.

It's too easy for bad people to obtain guns.

Too late to have any sort of gun control that will make any sense, unless they go Nazi style and check every house for guns.

BUT for future gun owners their should be a few more restrictions to purchasing one.

I have no problem if you want to get a gun, but it should not be quick and easy to get one. They should do mental background checks as well as interviews to see if your a responsible owner that will have it put away so that no children can get it.

Is the USA the only country to permit to own guns without license? I never understood their obsession with guns, is it for self defense? Shouldn't they trust their police forces?

In our constitution there's a line that gives us the right to bear arms. For some reason some people are obsessed with it and feel like they NEED to own a gun because it is their right to. And no, the police can be corrupted in any place that you go to around the world, so no.

This, but too many people think gun control = ban guns altogether. No, all we're suggesting is that people with criminal backgrounds and a history of mental instability not have access to guns. And everyone who owns one should be legally required to take classes on how to use one.

the U.S dug themselves into a deep hole. The restrictions on getting a gun are wayyyy to loose, and now there are so many guns in society that even if they do change regulations, there wont be a major effect for a very long time

Well I think the number of deaths by shooting in the US and the mass murders just shows how beneficial guns are...especially in the US

I was watching this program about the Canadian border.
And this American family accidentally passed the Canadian border (they wanted to picnic in the forest)..
So this guy from customs asks do you have any weapons?
And this family pulls out like 4 loaded guns with 2 little kids sitting on the backseat.
I was so disgusted .... Having guns at all is NOT normal.

Gun regulation should be more strict.

4 loaded guns is not normal but 1 absolutely is and should be. If you are of stable mental health and trained (as should be required), then you are of no risk to anyone other than someone who is a physical threat to you.
