After reading some posts in here I see that I'm not the only person who thinks the forum needs some organization. After thinking about it last night, I remembered some other forums and how they were organized. A brief summary is to have main sections: Music, Entertainment, Games, Videos, Other. Then in these sections are sub-sections which I will now list here:

Music

• News
• Artist Discussion
• New Releases (songs leaking, premieres, etc.)
• Countdown Shows

Entertainment

• News
• TV Shows
• Movies
• Sports

Games

• CD Survivors
• Artist Survivors (singles, videos, etc.)
• Personal Survivors
• Other Survivors (tv, movie, etc.)
• Games

Videos

• Music Videos
• TV & Movies
• Internet Videos
• News & Politics

Other

• The Lounge (General Discussion)
• Your Top Ten
• Blogs

Now I don't necessarly mean organizing the forum in this exact way, but this is just my original thoughts on how it could be organized. You could always change a few sub-sections around or delete/add some, but again this is just my original thoughts. I think by doing this, the forum will become much more organized and a lot easier to find what you are looking for. What are all of your opinions on this?

Shade, you bring some solid ideas here, but I know it would never work at ATRL. We have tried before to create a more developed set of sub-forums. At one time we had 4 distinct categories with sub-forums under them, for a total of like 16 forums.

But all those sub-forums seemed "dead" because they had very little activity. People are very quick to perceive a forum as inactive and abandon it entirely. We had the hardest time having an "Entertainment" forum at all, much less an entire category. Finally I think people get it now that it's called "Celebria," but with its old names like "Absolute TV" and "TV & Movies," it was a morgue for the longest time.

We've also tried splitting up the Main Music Forum in the past, and it just plain didn't work. People didn't understand what was "News" and what wasn't news. Plus, there would be a ton of overlap between the forums. "News" can also be artist discussion or especially new releases. That's what a lot of music news is.

So yeah I think we need to stick with our 7 main forums and deal with a little disorganization.

I agree with TC...let's say if for example the main music forum has maybe 20 active threads, and we go and split that into 4, we'll have forums with 2-8 active threads each...it'll just make each individual forum very dead.
