This article titled "Why I've Given Up on Hooking Up" by Lester Brathwaite is a considerably eloquent article, considering the subject material, that I think many a gay boy/man around here could do with reading. I see a lot of internalised/externalised homophobia (eg. bottom-bashing, masculinity-praising etc.), innocuous racism and vain attitudes on ATRL that are succinctly addressed here.

People are shallow. It's called preference, really.

Unfortunately, these little "social" apps allow people to kill real social interactions. There's probably 10% of users that are generally interested in discovering who their next sexual partner is and is genuinely interested in pursuing something more than a hook up. It's horrifying.

Sex isn't a bad thing. Lots of sex isn't a bad thing. This app just breeds closed-minded culture and internalized hatred.

I don't use those apps anymore.. Ppl there are shallow, most are promiscuous. Hurt my feelings

obviously he forgot to take into account age and maturity. as people grow older they realize certain things that matter and others that don't. if you haven't gotten over these things by your mid to late 20s then you need help

This was a good read. Mu school has a GSA that I'm the President of and we decided that it was more important to work from the inside out, instead of persuading others to change when the people pushing the change, can't even change themselves.

exactly. men have been objectifying woman since the beginning of time and that's "normal" but when gay men objectify each other it means that all gays are out of control and have an "unhealthy" lifestyle. Its complete BS and a double standard.
