Lily Allen: 'Feminism shouldn't even be a thing anymore'
Quote:
"Feminism. I hate that word because it shouldn't even be a thing anymore," she said. "We're all equal, everyone is equal. Why is there even a conversation about feminism? What's the man version of feminism? There isn't even a word for it. Menanism. Male-ism. It doesn't exist."
Speaking about the problems facing women more generally, Allen continues and expresses her theory about who the real "enemy" is: "It's much the same [as it used to be]. But I don't think men are the enemy. I think women are the enemy. I know that when I'm sitting in a restaurant and a really beautiful woman walks in, who’s skinny, I instinctively think, 'Oh, she's really skinny and beautiful and I’m really fat and ugly.' So it's more of a competitive thing. It's weird. It's just really unhealthy and we're our own worst enemy."
Everyone who is in their right mind knows that we are all equal, but the problem is that we aren't equal in the "real world" in terms of rights, pay, job opportunities, chances to further our education, etc. and this applies to ALL minorities...
Gender-wise, race-wise, sexuality-wise, and so on.

People think it's a female superiority group now. That's what it seems when trying to get fairness. I thought Lily would be a feminist.
I don't think you guys actually get what's she trying to say. She's obviously talking about men/women differences, not about general equality among people.
Came running in here to say "Lily knows the tea!" but actually... The last bit about the female competition though is a good point. Feminism is not only a movement about equality with men, but among all women themselves as well.

Everything Aathew said still applied to men & women differences. She's just not right.
The fact of the matter is that men need feminism as much as women do. Feminism is how we fight for the equality of all genders. Everything is currently NOT equal and pretending otherwise is naive to say the least.
