The reading game is about to change forever. Boston-based software developer Spritz has been in “stealth mode” for three years, tinkering with their program and leasing it out to different ebooks, apps, and other platforms.
...
The unique aspect of Spritz is that it identifies the ORP [Optimal Recognition Point] of each word, makes that letter red and presents all of the ORPs at the same space on the screen.
In this way, our eyes don’t move at all as we see the words, and we can therefore process information instantaneously rather than spend time decoding each word.
You can try it out here: http://www.spritzinc.com/the-science/
Select "click to Spritz" at the top of the page to see it in action. It defaults to 250 words per minute, but as you get more acclimated to the format, you can bump up the speed until you hit 600 wpm. It's pretty weird tbh.
That's what I thought at first too, but the more you use it (and stop thinking about it), the easier it became and I found that I barely even had to concentrate to "read" the whole page

Thing is, I'm not native and sometimes I have to think about words. There was no time for that ..
This would be nice for things like textbooks and ****, but for like literature, not so much bc it kinda strips the tone/mood of something down. They should do studies on long-term effects of this on your eyes/brain tho bc it made me feel kinda sus after reading it
